Theories of International Politics and Zombies

Daniel W. Drezner, Theories of International Politics and Zombies (Princeton University Press, 2015)

Summary: The perfect introduction to International Relations (IR) theory for the undergraduate freshman. All the big ones are covered here: liberalism, constructivism, realism, feminism, neoconservatism, psychology, and domestic and bureaucratic politics. All through the prism of a zombie outbreak, which just lightens everything up a bit.

Key Quote: "Traditional zombie narratives in film and fiction are quick to get to the apocalypse. Most of the theoretical approaches presented here, however, suggest that there would be a vigorous policy response to the menace of the living dead." - p. 132

Bottom Line: Read this book if want a light-hearted take on IR 101 models.
